The partnership have been designated Bikeability funding this year, to support the delivery of Cycle Proficiency and Safe Cycling to School.
24 schools will receive a free Bikeability course at their school for all their requested pupils. Pupils on the school will recieve a weeks worth of training provided by trained Bikeability instructors from PACE and by Friday will have qualified at Level 1 and Level 2.
Level 1 is a playground based training programme aimed at providing pupils with the basic skills of safe cycling, bike control and manouver.
Level 2 will see the pupils take to the roads (within a controlled environment) and learn skills linked to safe road cycling, signalling and being seen.
Schools involved in this programme for 2010 - 2011 are:
The Churchill Primary (12), Sellindge Primary (14), St Martins Primary (30), Highview Special (24), Seabrook Primary (14), St Peters Primary (14), St Nicholas Primary (54), Mundella Primary (18), Harcourt Primary, Stowting Primary, Hythe Bay Primary (28), Castle Hill Primary (14), Elham Primary (16), Palmarsh Primary (10), Lydd Primary (20), Brookland Primary (15), Hawking Primary (6).
All participating schools will shortly receive a letter from the partnership outlining all key details for the programme.
