As a partnership, we are very fortunate to have been able to recruit Claire Le Rossignol. As a previous sports development officer and regional development manager, Claire has worked with young people in sport from participation to performance level extensively over the last 10 years. With Claire’s help we have developed The Shepway School Sport Partnership Gifted and Talented Programme and Multi Skills Academy.
The Multi Skills Academy forms part of our gifted and talented provision for young people and is available to year 6 and 7 identified pupils. These pupils will be invited to attend up to 6 monthly training and identification sessions, which will not only, we hope develop them as sports people but potentially help move them onto the London 2012 regional and national gifted and talented schemes.
Therefore from October onwards, Claire and her team will be running gifted and talented identification sessions in all our primary and secondary schools in Shepway.
Each school will be asked to release their year 6/ year 7 class to take part in 5 sporting ‘challenges’ (as outlined in the events brochure). Their results will then be implemented into the national Shine Awards programme and pupils showing potential will receive a Bronze, Silver or Gold award and be invited to attend the Multi Skills Academy.
The team will attend all schools in Term 1 and 2. Gifted and Talented dates for your school can be found in the resources section
